Health hazard at Chachacha as latrines get full!

Most of the businesses at the centre use pit latrines except for a few businesses that have modern toilets that are connected to the sewer reticulation system.
The business centre which has witnessed modest development since independence and which many believe should have been designated the district’s growth point because of its strategic location, is in a sorry state.

Many pit latrines are full and many buildings last had a coat of paint many years ago.
Members of the public are blaming the local authority for failing to put measures in place to ensure the buildings and sanitation facilities at the centre are up to standard.

Maggots from the full latrines are all over the place and there are fears that unless something is done, the centre could witnesses an outbreak of waterborne diseases such as Cholera.-Chronicle
