THE Health Professions Authority (HPA), Medical and Dental Practitioners Council of Zimbabwe (MDPCZ) and Medical Rehabilitation Practitioners Council of Zimbabwe (MRPCZ) held a joint Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday focused on strengthening coordination in the regulation of health professionals and institutions.

The AGM provided a platform for the three regulatory bodies to review their operations, share experiences and identify areas for greater collaboration as the country works to strengthen the quality, safety and accountability of health services.

HPA board president Professor Joconiah Chirenda said the joint engagement was important in creating a more coordinated regulatory environment, with the authority prioritising digitalisation, standardisation and collaboration.

“We need to continue strengthening collaboration among the regulators and standardising our systems so that the public can have confidence in the health services being provided,” he said.

“Our ultimate goal is to ensure that every citizen receives the right care, at the right time, at the right facility and from the right person.”
