“This is a heartbreaking moment for the Fairy family, our team and our valued customers who have supported the Bulawayo branch. However, our spirit remains strong, and we are already working on the path forward.”

Those were the poignant words from management of Fairy Cafe after a devastating fire reduced the popular Bulawayo eatery to ashes — a tragedy that has left the city stunned, but not without hope as the restaurant vows to rise again.

In a statement released following the incident, management described the fire as a “heartbreaking moment” for the Fairy family, their staff and customers who had embraced the Bulawayo branch as their own.

“Earlier this morning, Fairy Cafe Bulawayo was severely damaged by a fire, resulting in the loss of the premises and its contents,” read part of the statement.

While the physical structure and everything inside it were destroyed, management confirmed that no lives were lost and no injuries were reported — a silver lining in what has otherwise been a dark chapter for the establishment.

“We are deeply grateful to confirm that no lives were lost and no injuries have been reported,” the statement said.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, with authorities yet to make official findings. Management indicated that preliminary observations suggest the blaze was not linked to electrical or gas faults, but emphasised that they will await the outcome of the investigations before making further comment.

For many in Bulawayo, Fairy Cafe was more than just a restaurant. It was a meeting place, a celebration venue and a home away from home for families, friends and business associates.

News of its destruction sent shockwaves across the city, with messages of sympathy and support flooding social media platforms throughout the day.
Describing the incident as a deeply emotional blow, management said the loss had shaken the entire Fairy family.

“This is a heartbreaking moment for the Fairy family, our team and our valued customers who have supported the Bulawayo branch,” the statement read.
Yet, amid the ashes and anguish, a strong message of resilience emerged.

“However, our spirit remains strong, and we are already working on the path forward.”
Those words have struck a chord with many residents, who have rallied behind the popular establishment, expressing hope that the cafe will soon rise again.

Management also extended heartfelt appreciation to the community for the overwhelming outpouring of support during the difficult period.
“We sincerely thank the community for the outpouring of support and concern during this difficult time. Further updates will be shared as more information becomes available.”
