Help fight STIs, firms urged

Speaking at the launch of an Elecare Pharmaceuticals campaign dubbed “I Care Extra-Do You”, Dr Mombershora, who was the guest of honour, noted that Government had made strides in coming up with schemes that fight the spread of STIs.

He said that the private sector’s involvement was crucial in ensuring the success of the programmes.
“We need such kind of initiatives and partnerships to help us fight the spread of these diseases (STIs),” said Dr Mombeshora.

“The private sector should invest in technologies that will see them manufacture products such as condoms locally rather than continue importing.”

Dr Mombeshora said there was still a need to raise awareness among the public on the need to use protection when indulging in sex.
