A fundraising page has been launched to repatriate the body of a 22-year-old Zimbabwean university student who died in Poland.
Bathabile Meshia Sibanda, who was a student at Vincent Pol University in Lublin pursuing a Cycle Master’s degree in Physiotherapy, passed away on 18 April 2024 at Lublin Public Hospital after a short illness.
Her passing left her loved ones in shock and mourning. In the face of this tragedy, Meshia’s family, led by Thokozani Mguni, has launched a GoFundMe campaign to repatriate her body to Zimbabwe.
The campaign aims to provide Meshia’s parents and relatives with the opportunity to bid her a final farewell in her homeland, where she will rest in peace. Mguni, in her appeal on the GoFundMe website, expressed the family’s deep desire to see Meshia’s return home one last time.
She stated, “My name is Thokozani Mguni, kindly assist me raise funds to repatriate the body of Bathabile Meshia Sibanda my sister’s daughter, born 06-03-2002 and passed away 18-04-2024 at Lublin public hospital after a short illness.
“She was enrolled at Vincent Pol University in Lublin for a Cycle Masters Studies in Physiotherapy. Meshia’s parents are both in Zimbabwe and are devastated by the passing of their daughter, they cannot afford the repatriation expenses, therefore appealing to the public to find it in their hearts to assist raise the funds.Thanking you in advance.”
