KUWADZANA 8 New Stand residents claim they are being terrorised by sex predators.
The incidents are happening especially at night and in the early hours of the morning.
The women are now appealing for increased police visibility.
In one incident, a 20-year-old house maid was raped at knife point last Thursday while escorting her employer’s children to school.
Most of the incidents happen when they are walking from Kuwadzana 5 to get transport to travel to various places.
“We are appealing for a police base at our new residential stands in Kuwadzana 8,” said one of the residents.
“Women are being sexually harassed daily on their way to and from work.”
Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the rape case and is appealing for information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects.
“Police are investigating a rape case where two men, armed with knives, pounced at a woman at around 0600hrs,” said Insp Chakanza.
“The complainant was walking in Kuwadzana when she was approached by two men.
“One of the accused persons grabbed her by the neck while pointing a knife at her and dragged her to a side of the road whilst the second accused person tackled her and raped her.
“The accused persons then saw another person walking and fled from the scene and took the complainant’s cell phone.
“The complainant was taken to an Adult Rape Clinic for medical examination.”
