Herald Sport rules the roost

THE Herald continues to have the best sports coverage of all the daily newspapers in the country, the latest Zimbabwe All Media and Products Survey report confirms.

The country’s biggest daily newspaper has always prided itself in having the best sports coverage in the country and the ZAMPS report for the first half and second half of last year confirms just that.

The report showed that more readers of The Herald, which retained its leadership position among the dailies, find themselves being drawn to the sports section of the newspaper when compared to all the other daily newspapers.

Twenty-one percent of those interviewed in the first half of the survey showed they were drawn to The Herald’s sports coverage compared to 18 percent of those drawn to NewsDay Sport, 17 percent of those drawn to Chronicle Sport, 15 percent of those drawn to Daily News Sport and 11 percent of those drawn to H-Metro Sport.

While there was a general decline, in the second half of the year across all newspapers, when it comes to readers being drawn to the sports sections, amid landmark political events which unfolded in the country leading to Operation Restore Legacy, the resignation of former President Mugabe and the inauguration of President Mnangagwa as the new leader of the country, Herald Sport continued to lead the way during that period.

Fifteen percent of those interviewed in the survey in the second half of 2017, said they were drawn to The Herald sports section, which remained a leading mark of a dailies.
