HOW Mine captain Herbert Dick is bullish ahead of the first leg encounter of the Orange Caf Confederation Cup first round against Seychelles side St Michel at Barbourfields Stadium on Saturday.
Dick said they want to capitalise on home advantage and wrap up the tie when they face the Indian Ocean islanders.
“We have to be ruthless at home and score more goals, so that when we go for an away encounter, we will be on the safe side and already done the job,” said Dick.
How Mine were rampant at home in the first round encounter of Confederations Cup against Chuoni FC as they scored four goals.
Dick said they will not be carried away by the last round victory.
“We are heading to the encounter with caution we don’t want to get carried away by the last round victory,” he said.
The Metallon Gold sponsored outfit was thrashed 5-1 by Chapungu in a friendly match at the weekend.
Dick believes the defeat was a major boost as the team will be eager to bounce back.
“It was a wake up call, so that we won’t relax ahead of a big game, now we want to bounce back to winning ways, as the morale is high in camp,” said the veteran defender.
Dick praised the return of his defence partner and deputy captain Gilbert Banda who did not take part in the first leg because he did not have a passport.
“The return of Banda is a major boost for the team, he is any experienced player and now we will be having a full strength squad,” said Dick.
History making gaffer Philani “Beefy” Ncube said he is positive his side will overpower St Michel at home.
“We are ready and the team is raring to go, now the chances are 50-50 but I’m positive my team will prevail since we are at home,” said Ncube.
He said there is no one guaranteed of a starting berth and that applies to veteran defender Banda who is now available for selection for the Saturday encounter.
“No one is guaranteed of a starting berth, everyone has to impress me at practice, but I’m happy that Banda finally got his passport and is back in the squad,” Ncube said.
The St Michel squad is expected in the country tonight.
