A NKAYI teenager has appeared in court facing charges of sodomising his neighbour’s son after he tricked him to help him rescue his beast which was stuck in the fields.
Emmanuel Luphahla (18), who is employed as a herdboy, pleaded guilty when he appeared before Inyathi magistrate Mr Stephen Ndlovu, to charges of sodomising a 12-year-old boy. He was remanded in custody to tomorrow for sentencing.
Prosecuting, Mr Lungisani Dube said on 13 April the victim and his friend left home and went to a nearby bush to look for wild fruits.
“While the victim and his friend were still looking for fruits, Luphahla approached and asked them if they had seen his cattle which he was herding. The victim told him that they had not seen the cattle,” he said.
The court heard that Luphahla asked the boy and his friend to come and assist him to rescue a beast which was stuck in the fields.
“The two agreed and they followed Luphahla. While on their way Luphahla ordered the victim’s friend to go back home and he held the boy’s hand. After walking a short distance Luphahla ordered the boy to lie down facing downwards and he removed his pair of shorts and underwear. He then sodomised him,” said Mr Dube.
The court heard that the boy screamed and Luphahla got off him and ran away. The boy went home and told his uncle what had happened. A report was made to the police and he was referred to the hospital for medical examination.
