NORTHERN Region Division One women’s soccer executive committee is expected to hand down a ruling on Herentals Queens by next week who are accused of unruly behaviour during a mid-season tournament played at Morris Depot two weeks ago. The tournament was won by Black Rhinos Queens.Herentals withdrew from the tournament in protest of the organiser’s order to pick litter prior to their semi-final encounter.
The team also bussed in supporters, intimidated opponents’ goalkeepers and threatened violence after they were asked to find an alternative site to camp.
Northern Region Division One women’s soccer chairperson, Wilbert Rambanapasi, said he was disappointed by Herentals’ “anti-sporting” behaviour which he said defeated the whole concept of uplifting the girl child.
He said the team’s supporters insulted the league’s vice-chairperson Yeukai Chashaya in full view of the public.
“Herentals Queens are a good club, but their behaviour during the event was far from satisfactory.”
Herentals secretary-general Kudakwashe Remba did not deny any wrongdoing by his club, but suspected there was a plot to dismantle the institution.
