HERENTALS Queens have underlined their dominance of the Zimbabwe Women’s Premier Soccer League after sealing a fourth successive league title.

Since elbowing Black Rhinos off the perch in 2022, “Vagoni Vebasa” have been rampant, beating every team in their tracks and ring-fencing the podium.

And they did wrap up this term’s crown in style with two games to spare.

They have been unplayable for the last four years, suffering a single defeat in each of the last three while they were invincible in 2022.

In actual fact, the Simba Dedza team never tasted defeat in the field of play a boardroom decision to award lowly Kwekwe United a 3-0 victory for a scheduled match that failed to take off in Harare.

But that couldn’t stop the Student Queens’ juggernaut who went into yesterday’s game needing just a draw to secure their fourth league accolade.

And they brought an assured performance at 2 Brigade to shred off the soldiers 2-0, a goal in either half by Natasha Benza and Praynance Zvawanda all but ensuring yet another triumphant year for the learners.

Natasha, whose solitary strike sank Chapungu Queens in a crucial tie last Wednesday, said Vagoni Vebasa were ever prepared to take it home.

“We are over the moon. We knew we needed a point to clinch it, but the match against Cranborne Royals wasn’t an easy one,” said Natasha.

“As a team, it always feels good to be always cruising to the championship.

“This was a difficult season for us especially after we saw Chapungu Queens and Correctional steering away in the race.

“But we were so patient and we stayed focused. We managed to draw against both Correctional and Chapungu away from home.

“Then we beat both when we hosted them. We knew the trick and it worked.

“We are very happy to have won the league title for the fourth time in four seasons.

“We are left with two games which we have to get down. We can take our tally to 77 if we win both. That’s the aim now.”

Herentals Queens will be hoping to do well in the CAF Women’s Champions League COSAFA qualifiers next year after two failed attempts.
