ALL is set for the 2025 Heroes and Defence Forces Music Show, scheduled for Kujeke Growth Point in Hwedza, Mashonaland East province, today.
Following the decentralisation of national events, it will be a marvel for the people of Hwedza as they witness some of the country’s finest performers strutting their stuff right on their doorsteps.
Over the years, the residents of the area have enjoyed the Hwedza Arts Festival, normally held on Christmas Day, courtesy of their MP Tino Machakaire.
This time, they will be hosting the Heroes and Defence Forces Music Gala, which comes as an early Christmas present.
What has heightened the appeal of this year’s event is that it features several stars from the province.
Notably, performers from the area will be led by Faheem Somanje, the son of Daiton Somanje, who passed away in 2015.
Crowds will also see one of Marondera’s finest performers Josphat Somanje, who founded Pengaudzoke with his late brother Daiton, on stage.
Besides Faheem, other artistes from Mashonaland East include Mark Ngwazi, who hails from the same area and Simon Mutambi, born in Beatrice.
Joining the line-up are dancehall stars Kadiki and Van Chichi. Versatile entertainer Del Roy Shewe, along with Mutokwe, are also part of the bill and ready to perform.
This representation of various artistes from Mashonaland East will significantly boost local talent. In addition to these stars, Chief Hwenje, Mathias Mhere, Shantel Sithole, Ndunge Yut, Mr Gray, Jah Master, Loveness Mainato, Clement Magwaza, Tendai Dembo and the ZPCS Band have been included in the line-up.
