On Wednesday night, Rusape reverberated in song and dance as several musicians put up scintillating performances at a packed Vengere Stadium for the Heroes Gala.
It was one of the biggest crowds to ever throng the stadium as thousands came in their numbers to honour the country’s heroes.
Not even the cold weather could deter revellers of all age groups from thronging the stadium.
The artistes were in top form and kept revellers on their toes as they belted tune after tune.
The wide selection of artistes from genres such as gospel, sungura and dancehall was a masterstroke as everyone was catered for.
Gospel artistes Agatha Murudzwa-Ndemera and Mai Respina Patai uplifted the revellers’ spirits with their spiritual tunes.
DJ Phatan of ChillSpot Records then lightened up the stadium minutes before midnight with his perfect selection of danceable and sing along songs.
Queen of dance, Sandra Ndebele came up with her energetic dances.
The whole stadium had their eyes glued on her as she and her dancers gyrated on the stage.
It was a moment to cherish as she left fans clamouring for more.
However, the night belonged to Zimdancehall star, Enzo Ishall who put a one-man top drawer performance.
He connected well with the fans, be it youngsters, the elderly and even mothers with babies on their backs.
The crowd sand along to every song he played. In fact, Enzo made the crowd jump and dance. When his time was up, the whole stadium shouted his name for quite some time.
The emcees had to calm the excited crowd by promising to bring him back on stage.
Chief Hwenje did very well with his revolutionary songs and the revellers responded to his beats.
Tambaoga who rose to fame during the land reform programme era put up a fine performance with his traditional music and connected well the crowd.
His expert fusion of mbira, marimba, ngoma, hosho and guitars produced melodious sounds.
Not to be outdone were Suluman Chimbetu, Andy Muridzo and veteran Leonard Zhakata who was playing in his home turf and proved that he is still a force to reckon with.
The whole show was well organised and fans had great fun in a peaceful environment.
It was a night to remember.
