THE family of Cde Chinx’s late widow, Patricia Simon has applied for a heroine status.

Patricia’s liberation war name was Durai Mabhunhu.

Speaking on behalf of the family, her daughter-in-law said:

“My mother-in-law, passed on from breast cancer on Sunday.

“Her conditon started deteriorating last Decemberuntil the time of her death.

“She was a peacemaker in the family, grandmotherly, soldier in humanity, family unifier, hardworking cultural, moral boosting, and forgiving like our later father, Cde Chinx.

“She was a friend to me as she often told me entertaining stories about how she got married to baba during the liberation struggle, when they were in Mozambique.

“They finally came back in 1980 with their first born Lenny  in their arms,” she said.

Mourners are gathered at house number 17 Takeley Drive in Sentosa.
Burial arrangements are expected today.
