Heydays back at Spillway Pub & Restaurant

Heydays are back at Spillway Pub and Restaurant if a massive attendance at Jah Prayzah’s show at the venue last weekend is anything to go by.

The venue was packed with merrymakers and this week proprietors of the place will be hoping that a good crowd returns for more family fun at the Lake Chivero spillway resort. This time they have invited Peter Moyo to be part of the fun on Sunday afternoon and he shares the stage with upcoming dendera musician Nyasha Mugari.

Suluman Chimbetu, who was initially scheduled to be part of the event, will no longer be attending as he has other commitments on the day.

The place was among the most popular outdoor venues for many years before it closed for renovations last year.

It re-opened early this year and the number of patrons has been slowly increasing.

Last week merrymakers at the event were in high spirits and most of them were disappointed when Jah Prayzah left the stage too early.

The revellers seemed prepared to party until way after midnight and most of them left the place about an hour after Jah Prayzah’s performance.

Peter will be coming to a place that used to be his father Tongai’s favourite hunting ground when he alternated with the likes of Alick Macheso, Thomas Mapfumo and Oliver Mtukudzi for slots at Spillway.

Spillway Pub and Restaurant manager Dzikama Rufu said this time music fans will ‘party until they drop’.

“Last week we had a great event. However, fans felt Jah Prayzah went away too early when they still wanted to have fun. It was because of a communication breakdown and we apologise for that. Our patrons come first in our programme and we will make sure they have fun until they drop. We are continuing from where we left last week. This will be another weekend of delicious food and exciting music,” said Rufu.
