THE Zifa’s High Performance Technical Committee is set to meet this evening to vet the curriculum vitaes of all national team coaches and also discuss the Warriors failure to progress in their 2015 Africa Cup of Nations campaign.
The committee met on 25 June but could not proceed with their discussions as Warriors coach; Ian Gorowa had not submit the technical reports as per the norm.
The grouping’s vice-chairperson Gibson Homela confirmed the meeting although he said he was yet to find out if Gorowa had tendered in the reports.
Zifa spokesperson Xolisani Gwesela said Gorowa was still to hand in the documents by yesterday afternoon.
Homela said they will be vetting the certificates and going over CVs of all coaches involved with national teams.
“I will have to check later today (yesterday) or tomorrow (today) morning to find out if anything has come from him,” he said.
The committee gave Gorowa up to last Friday to submit the report but the coach went on an overdrive from his base in South Africa attacking Homela in the Press.
Gorowa accused Homela of either never having liaised with him or contacting him in the run up to or after matches and had no right to demand any report from him saying he will only report to Zifa.
The South African based gaffer, who seems to have developed a penchant for spurring with administrators after calling Zifa chief executive officer Jonathan Mashingaidze a habitual liar, also said the HPTC was not there during the games they lost and did not see the reason why they should be involved at this stage.
The HPTC is tasked with advising national team coaches and assessing their performance.
The Warriors were booted out of the first round of the Afcon 2015 qualifiers by Tanzania 3-2 on aggregate and the HPTC has been hoping to review the match and come up with recommendations on the way forward.
It is standard practice that technical departments submit reports after international assignments.
The HPTC is headed by Zifa board member John Phiri and also includes Zimbabwe Soccer Coaches Association head Bhekimpilo Nyoni, former Blue Ribbon coach Misheck Chidzambwa, Charles Sibanda, Cosmas Zulu, Mike Ngore and Zifa technical director, Takaendesa Jongwe.
