High schools quiz finals set for tomorrow

THE Old Mutual National High Schools Quiz is set to take place tomorrow, with 10 schools from across Zimbabwe competing for the coveted title.

The schools are Zengeza High 1 from Harare, Northlea High from Bulawayo, Midlands Christian College from Gweru, Sandringham High from Mashonaland West, Pamushana High from Masvingo, Marist Brothers Nyanga, Goromonzi High from Mashonaland East, St Mary’s High from Matabeleland South, Lulu High from Matabeleland North and Mazowe Boys High from Mashonaland Central.

The competition began with provincial rounds in September, in which 220 schools participated.

The competition covers a broad range of subjects, from African history and geography to architecture and technology.

According to Lilian Mbayiwa, executive head of group marketing, public affairs and sustainability, the competition’s aim is to cultivate critical thinking, teamwork and a thirst for knowledge among the country’s youth.

“This quiz competition is not just about answering questions; it is about nurturing critical thinking, teamwork and a thirst for knowledge.

“We are proud to be part of this journey and to witness the brilliant minds that emerge from this experience.

“We are committed to empowering the youth and supporting their intellectual growth. It is incredible to witness the impact this competition has on shaping the future leaders of our society,” she said.
