THE Bulawayo Metropolitan Province Darts Association will hold a Legends Doubles Darts Tournament at Parkview Sports Club tonight.
Organising secretary Lethukuthula Nkomo said they are expecting a high turnout at the event.“We expect players to come in numbers for the tournament. Last year we had a low turnout but this time we have slotted it on the calendar so that it can be an open event and therefore there will be no league matches tomorrow,” said Nkomo.
Archers captain Ernest “Maphepha” Sibanda confirmed the participation of his team in the tournament.
“If we are to continue our dominance, we should compete in these tournaments, I have told the whole team to come and play in this cup game and we are targeting semi-finals,” said Sibanda.
Meanwhile, Archers made light work of Highlanders Darts Club who they beat 30-9 in a league match played on Monday night.
Archers who are under the stewardship of former Highlanders chairman Sibanda are still unbeaten in this campaign.
Albert Tawanda and Brian Ndlovu played well for Archers.
Sibanda said he was impressed by the team’s performance and he is optimistic they can finish the season unbeaten.
“The players put up a splendid performance with the likes of Tawanda and Ndlovu. I’m also happy with the overall team’s performance, we are a machine which fires on all cylinders. I’m positive we will finish on a high note,” said Sibanda.
Highlanders’ vice-captain Nkomo said they lost to a better team and they hope to bounce back to winning ways.
“We lost to a better team, we can’t take credit away from them (Archers), they are a good side, that’s why they are still unbeaten,” said Nkomo.
