Polling stations opened at 6:30am and are expected to close at 7pm. Some voters said they arrived at the polling stations as early as 2am while some in Zwenshambe at Tati West said they spent the night on the queue.
The voting has been reported to be smooth albeit slow in many polling stations around the country. There have been isolated cases of voters missing on the voters roll.
Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) president Ian Khama cast his vote at Makolojwane Community Hall in Serowe North constituency where his brother Tshekedi Khama is contesting for the parliamentary seat.
Umbrella for Democratic Party (UDC) president Duma Boko cast his very first vote at Limkokwing University in Gaborone Bonnigton North at 8am in front of hordes of local and international journalists.
Botswana Congress Party president Dumelang Saleshando is expected to vote at Phakalane Primary at 2:30pm.
In Gaborone South, Mmegi found UDC parliamentary candidate Murray Dipate stranded because his name was missing in the voters roll at Urban Customary Court Polling Stations. — mmegi
