Highlanders basketball teams in good outing

Bosso ladies overcame log leaders Giants 41-38 in a thrilling match that was played at the Bulawayo Club of the Disabled (BCD) Courts on Friday.
The match had been tied at 28 points until Cleopatra Mhanda scored a three pointer with five minutes to go.
Their men counterparts registered a walkover against bottom placed Sixers side who failed to pitch up and in the process leapfrogged league leaders Unicorns who were not in action at the weekend to lead the log on 35 points while Unicorns have 34 points with a game in hand.

Lakers (w) also registered a 20-0 walkover against Nust while 9th placed ZB Titans were hammered 61-38 by Kings.
An all universities affair saw Midlands State University taking on Nust with the Midlands institution narrowly edging their Bulawayo counterparts 57-52.
MSU’s Goodluck Chiparaushe was tied with Nust’s Terry Manyera on the high scorers with 22 points apiece.
MSU then took on Kings in a high tempo game that had Kings using their vast experience to overcome MSU 86-73 .

The last match of the game pitted resurgent ALCC against Giants.
Coachless ALCC rode on the wave of last week’s giant killing of Unicorns as they trounced Giants 70-60 in a highly tempered match that saw Muchengeti Hamandishe manhandling referee Mthandazo Ndubiwa.
ALCC’s Mthandazo Sithole had the most points on 25 while player coach Emmanuel Mukandi and Charles Tshuma were tied on 22 apiece for Giants.

Meanwhile, the Southern Region select men’s team has been released ahead of next weekend’s BUZ inter-provincial tournament at Mutare.
The Daniel Mombeshora coached outfit is determined to reach the finals.
“We have quite a compact team and I am positive we will get to the finals though the outcome of the final may be something else but we are getting there definitely,” said a confident Mombeshora.

The women’s team is yet to be announced.
