HIGHLANDERS Football Club chairman Peter Dube has apologised to the team’s fans over what he called a slight oversight regarding the gate fees for the Monomotapa match at Barbourfields Stadium yesterday.
He however commended the supporters for their understanding as there were no major headaches at the turnstiles. “We realised that there were gate charges distortions in our advert with the first one indicating gate charges as $3 for the rest of the ground while the second one had $5. This was a slight oversight which we are truly very sorry about,” said Dube.
Many thought the club had reduced their gate charges only to get to the venue and be told a different figure by the cashiers, which was $5 for the rest of the ground and $10 for the wings.
“It was indeed a huge inconvenience to our supporters which we hope won’t happen again. The $5 is just a way to make the club survive. There will come a time or stage where we might have to review the charges downwards because we value our supporters so much,” said Dube.
The Highlanders supremo said while the match was played mid week, charging a lesser fee would not have been a guarantee that more supporters were going to come to the stadium.
