HIGHLANDERS and Dynamos will travel to Colliery Stadium in Hwange this weekend for their Munhumutapa Cup fixtures against Blackrock FC and Hwange FC respectively, with Zifa confirming that the venue remains approved to host the two high-profile matches.
Highlanders will take on Blackrock FC on Saturday before Dynamos face Hwange FC at the same venue on Sunday.
There had been speculation that the fixtures could be moved following Zifa’s decision to shift the Kwekwe FC versus Hardrock FC match from Bagdad Stadium to Chahwanda Stadium after Bagdad was deemed unfit to host a high-profile encounter.
The development had sparked concerns over the suitability of Colliery Stadium, but Zifa has dismissed the speculation.
“Highlanders and Dynamos will travel to the Colliery Stadium for their matches this weekend,” Zifa spokesperson Mike Madoda said.
The confirmation means football fans in Hwange will get the opportunity to watch two of the country’s biggest clubs in action as the Munhumutapa Cup gathers momentum.
