HIGHLANDERS have officially confirmed the signing of three players during the just ended mid-season transfer window as coach Benjani Mwaruwari strengthens his squad for the final stretch of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season.
The Bulawayo giants on Thursday announced the arrival of striker Brighton Makopa, midfielder Liam Mabidi and Emmanuel Saidi, who joins the club on loan from Scottland FC until the end of the campaign. Makopa’s signing marks a homecoming for a player who came through Highlanders’ developmental structures before moving on to establish himself in the Premier Soccer League.
He later featured for Hwange FC, where impressive performances earned him a move to Chicken Inn.The experienced player now returns to the club where his football journey began.
Highlanders also moved to bolster their midfield with the signing of highly-rated Liam Mabidi from Southern Region Division One side Dulibadzimu United.The young midfielder previously spent time in the development structures of South African outfit TS Galaxy, experience the club believes has helped shape his game. He is expected to provide fresh competition in the middle of the park as Benjani seeks greater depth in his squad.
The third arrival is Emmanuel Saidi, who joins Bosso on loan from Scottland FC for the remainder of the season.The loan deal gives Highlanders another option as they prepare for a demanding second half of the campaign, with the technical team hoping the added competition will lift standards across the squad.
In a statement announcing the new arrivals, Highlanders said the three signings were part of the club’s efforts to strengthen the team for the remainder of the season.
“The Club believes the three additions will provide valuable competition within the squad while giving the technical team additional options as we pursue our objectives for the remainder of the season,” read part of the statement.
