Highlanders free to fire Benjani if he fails: Chivayo

IF Benjani Mwaruwari fails to deliver at Highlanders, he naturally has to leave the club, benefactor Wicknel Chivayo has said.

The businessman said the belief that he has final authority on what happens to Mwaruwari if he fails solely lies with him was not true and remains a factual malice.
“If he fails to deliver the club can change him, it’s within them. We only suggested because we need local content. Benjie came to my house and said he now has football qualifications and would want to work home, I said to him why don’t you try Highlanders, you are a local boy too,” said Chivayo.

He said at the same time Bosso were hunting for a coach and his first port of call was Highlanders.
“We suggested that to Highlanders and they told me that they had already gotten into an agreement with some South African coach. I said to them it’s okay as long as you will pay his packages, I won’t be part of it,” said Chivayo.

Mwaruwari has been subsequently appointed Highlanders head coach.
