HIGHLANDERS and former club chairman Ndumiso Gumede met yesterday to thrash out some points over his imminent return to Bosso.
Gumede is expected to join Highlanders as chief executive officer soon.The club confirmed meeting the veteran administrator.
Bosso chairman Peter Dube said his executive had met Gumede and discussed the chief executive post issue. He described the talks as frank and mutually beneficial.
“It was a candid meeting where both parties appeared to be reading from the same script. We are happy with what came out of the discussions. We believe we are on track and soon he will start work.
“Obviously with such meetings there is so much to be tied up before he can put pen to paper. We agreed on almost everything and we are happy with the way he presented himself.
“He is a Highlanders son. He has done so much for the team and Zimbabwean football. He is a man many believe would help the club achieve certain things,” said Dube.
Gumede did not seek re-election as Zifa vice-president in the recent elections. He had told Chronicle in October 2012 that he would not enter the race as he felt he had served the national association long enough. His first dance with Zifa was soon after Independence in 1980.
Dube could not reveal when Gumede could start work only saying it would be as soon as a contract was signed.
Gumede was not picking up his phone yesterday.
