“The person will spend 80 percent of his duties with the juniors and 20 percent with the first team because we want to have a solid system where our juniors will directly link with the senior team,” said Ndlela during a press conference to name their new technical structure that will be led by former club striker and Zambian, Kelvin Kaindu.
In a notice published on Saturday, Highlanders said the ideal candidate should be a holder of a Caf C coaching licence or better and should have coached at Premier League level.
The post is almost certain to be filled by a former player after Ndlela indicated during the press conference that the club had taken a position to empower former players by giving them technical positions in the team.
Even though he never coached at Premiership level, former captain Dazidelio Kapenya is tipped to have a role in the new set-up that will also have former committee member Siphatho Ncube and former first team assistant coach Mark Mathe.
Kapenya has always been tipped for a technical post in the Bosso set-up and was one of the odds-on favourites to be assistant to new coach Kaindu before the executive settled for another long serving player Bekithemba “Super” Ndlovu who will be player assistant coach.
The club also advertised for a physical trainer who should be a holder of a physical training certificate or better qualifications.
Meanwhile, former club coach Zulu is tipped to take the director of coaching position with his vast knowledge of the game and experience.
Sources close to Highlanders confirmed that Zulu was the executive’s favourite although another veteran coach and former Hwange mentor, Botswana-based Paul Moyo’s name has also been thrown in.
Moyo is father of the late FC Platinum head coach Benjamin, who drowned in unclear circumstances early this year during his team’s camp in Shurugwi.
