HIGHLANDERS and Zimbabwe legend Madinda Ndlovu has endorsed the weekend fixture between his former club and Dynamos.

The two giants of Zimbabwe football, the most successful in terms of silverware since 1963 and the most supported in the land, will clash in a match that will bring to an end the Kuzana Sports and Creatives Economy Expo Zimbabwe (SCEEZ) which starts in Bulawayo tomorrow and ends on Sunday.

It is aimed at sport and creatives getting together sharing ideas on how they can unlock their equity value and grow their industries.

The Ministry of Sport, the ones who came up with the idea, partnered Highlanders in Sunday’s match in which the team’s milestone 100 years will be celebrated. It will be the biggest gathering of

the Highlanders faithful this year at an event to celebrate the centenary of football provided by Zimbabwe’s most supported team.

“Wherever these two teams meet, it’s a fight. So What I am saying is that Highlanders supporters must come in their numbers,” said Ndlovu.

The former Highlanders Number 7, said the game has stayed the biggest in the land.

“There is never a game that could be said to be bigger than this one, so this is an opportunity to show we support our team and hope many Dynamos supporters will also attend,” said Ndlovu.

He called for calm from the terraces.

“Let’s not end up spoiling the day, let’s go there and support our teams, we know there is one team that is going to win. If it’s not ours let us accept the result,” said Ndlovu.

He said the match between the two teams are always high octane clashes.

“Even from my time, there was always tension when the two teams clashed,” said Ndlovu.

He also took time to mourn the death of football benefactor Sir Wicknell Chivayo who died last

week in a helicopter crash with four others who included his wife Lucy.

“As a legend I benefitted a lot from Chivayo, he gave me something I will cherish forever,” said Ndlovu who alongside Highlanders chief executive officer Denzil Mnkandla, club board chairman

Luke Mnkandla and the late club chairman Kenneth Mhlophe were given cars and US$10 000 to spend.

Highlanders coach Benjani Mwaruwari also received a car from Chivayo.
Chivayo also sponsored Highlanders and he died last Wednesday a few hours after he had gifted

Highlanders with US$250 000 bringing his financial and material help to US$2 million.

He had over the past two seasons been the mainstay of the club as Highlanders continue to struggle with finances.

Betterbrands and Sakunda have also been backing Highlanders.

Chivayo who was declared a provincial hero will be buried in Harare on Thursday.
