Highlanders out to crush Scottland

HIGHLANDERS’ interim coach Try Ncube has thrown down the gauntlet, he wants another win. But he knows fully well that storming Rufaro won’t be a walk in the park.

Fresh off a gritty 1-0 victory over GreenFuel that ended a frustrating three-game slump, Bosso are now eyeing back-to-back wins for the first time in weeks. But Sunday’s opponents, a rejuvenated Scottland FC, have ideas of their own and a few new weapons to show off.

“It’s difficult just like any other game we play,” Ncube admitted. “But it’s also a game that can motivate our players. We know they have big-name players, but we also have young boys who know what is at stake and are eager to make a name for themselves.”

That fighting spirit is exactly what Bosso fans have been craving in a season filled with false starts and flickers of promise. Last week’s three points brought some badly needed relief and now, momentum is the mission.

“We have done fair for the past three games,” said Ncube. “Yes, we have not picked the results we wanted, but we have seen more positives than negatives from our performances. The players are really trying hard to get us the results we want.”

And there’s more good news for the black-and-white faithful. The treatment room is finally emptying out. Mafios Chihweta, Tendai Muvuti, Achford Faira and Marlvin Hativagoni are all back in full training, giving Bosso a much-needed boost ahead of a tricky test in the capital.

But it’s not all smooth sailing. Arthur Ndlovu and Mason Mushore are suspended and will miss the clash.

“These are two good players, who have been playing well,” Ncube conceded. “But we have able replacements who can come in and fill the void.”

And that’s the attitude that’s come to define Ncube’s reign — no excuses, just hard graft. The coach, still new in the role, is quietly rebuilding belief at a club where expectations are always sky-high.

Meanwhile, Scottland FC are riding their own wave of optimism. Their 2-1 away shocker over Ngezi Platinum Stars last weekend turned heads and silenced doubters, at least for now.

They’ll be banking on recent big-name arrivals to maintain the buzz. Terrence Dzvukamanja is back home after years in South Africa, while Malawian striker Khuda Ike Myaba and Namibian midfielder Moses Shidolo bring fresh fire to the squad.

But for Ncube, the focus is laser-sharp — all eyes on getting Bosso firing again.

“The preparations are going on well and the boys are raring to go,” he said. “Everyone is training perfectly well. When you are not getting the results you want, it’s always worrying, but a lot of work is happening behind the scenes to make sure we get the players we want.”

So, will Bosso silence Rufaro and bag two on the trot? Or will Scottland protect their turf and spoil the party?
