THE Castle Lager Premier Soccer League returns to centre stage on Sunday with a potentially season-defining programme that could reshape both the title race and the battle for survival.
With the campaign entering a crucial phase, all roads lead to Barbourfields Stadium where Highlanders face former champions Simba Bhora in what promises to be the standout fixture of Matchday 21.
Bosso head into the blockbuster encounter determined to silence the off-field noise that has dominated their week and send a strong statement to the rest of the league.
Backed by their passionate home support, Highlanders will be aiming to derail Simba Bhora’s title ambitions while boosting their own push up the table.
Simba Bhora, however, arrive in Bulawayo with championship aspirations of their own and know that victory at Emagumeni would significantly strengthen their quest for the title.
Elsewhere, Hardrock FC faces another stern examination when they welcome traditional giants CAPS United to Chahwanda Stadium.
Still reeling from recent disciplinary sanctions and desperate for points, Hardrock will be eager to prove they can compete under pressure against a resurgent Makepekepe outfit.
At Sakubva Stadium, Manica Diamonds entertain ZPC Kariba in a contest that could have major implications at both ends of the table.
The Gem Boys will be targeting maximum points on home soil, while the visitors remain desperate to pull themselves clear of relegation danger.
At Gibbo Stadium, Triangle United face arguably the toughest assignment of the weekend as they host Herentals College.
The weekend’s action concludes at Rufaro Stadium, where Dynamos take on Agama.
DeMbare continue their search for consistency and know that victory is essential if they are to force their way into the upper reaches of the standings.
With the championship race becoming increasingly intense and the battle for survival equally fierce, Sunday’s Matchday 21 fixtures have all the ingredients of another unforgettable chapter in Zimbabwean football.
