Highlanders Royals relegated after final-day defeat

HIGHLANDERS Royals have been relegated from the Zimbabwe Women’s Premier Soccer League following a 1-0 defeat to Mpopoma Sports Academy (Mposa) at Ascot Ground.

The Royals went into their final match of the season just a point above the relegation zone and needed a victory against Mposa to survive, but they failed to secure the crucial win.

Their fate was sealed when Cranborne Royals collected three points against Red Buffaloes without kicking a ball after being awarded a walkover victory, pushing the Royals into the drop zone.

Highlanders Royals now join Red Buffalos and Black Mambas, who also failed to survive relegation.
Meanwhile, Cranborne Royals confirmed their place in the league after being handed a walkover victory against Red Buffaloes, who did not show up for their final fixture.
