HIGHLANDERS have appealed to their supporters to observe proper conduct during the playing of the national anthem, reminding the Bosso faithful that respect and discipline remain central to the club’s values.
In a statement issued after the club’s recent trip to Gweru, Highlanders praised the thousands of supporters who travelled to back the team, but also used the opportunity to call for respectful observance during the rendition of the national anthem at matches.
“The national anthem is a symbol of our nationhood, unity and collective identity, and we expect all members of the Bosso family to stand in respectful observance throughout its rendition,” the club said.
The statement came against the backdrop of another strong show of support from the Bosso faithful, whom the club described as the heartbeat of the institution.
“Highlanders Football Club extends its sincere appreciation to all Bosso supporters who travelled to Gweru and those who rallied behind the team throughout the match. Your unwavering passion, energy and commitment continue to inspire the players, technical team and leadership of the club.
“The sea of black and white in the stands once again demonstrated why Bosso remains one of the most supported and respected institutions in Zimbabwe football. We are truly grateful for your loyalty and sacrifice.”
While celebrating the supporters’ dedication, Highlanders said the club expected its followers to continue embodying the values that have defined Bosso over the years.
“Highlanders prides itself on discipline, respect, and leadership both on and off the field. As we continue our centenary celebrations, let us all uphold these values and set an example worthy of our rich history and stature,” read the statement.
The reminder comes as Highlanders mark their centenary celebrations, with the club keen to ensure that the conduct of its supporters reflects the traditions and stature of one of Zimbabwe’s biggest football institutions.
