BULAWAYO Football giants Highlanders yesterday held their 100 years Corporate Breakfast launch in the city where the club’s board boss Luke Mnkandla detailed their plans for the year-long celebrations.
Established in 1926, Bosso will be celebrating 100 years of existence in 2026.
In a speech read on his behalf, by Bosso board member Elkanah Dube, who is also Highlanders Supporters centenary celebrations chairman, Mnkandla said as part of the celebrations they will have community day events.
“We will have structured outreach programmes aimed at giving back to the communities that have supported us for a century,” said Mkandla.

He added: “This is where your esteemed organisations, our valued corporate partners, become indispensable co-authors of the Highlanders story. We invite you to move beyond sponsorship and join us as genuine partners in a campaign that delivers tangible social and commercial returns.”
He said their contribution, strategically directed, will enable Bosso to fund youth development programmes.
“By sponsoring a specific age group or a full season of the Youth Academy, you directly invest in structured training, education, and nutrition for over seventy young athletes.
“On upgrading facilities, we are seeking partners to take ownership of key infrastructure projects, such as the construction of our gymnasium or the naming rights to our new administrative block. Underwrite our marquee events, guaranteeing premium exposure and association with the club’s biggest-ever publicity year.”
He further mentioned that by promoting football growth, there will be a need to invest in technology and research to ensure Highlanders remain at the cutting edge of sports management and performance.
“We have prepared specific sponsorship opportunities — from centenary legacy partners to official event sponsors — each tailored to provide maximum brand integration, media exposure, and aligned corporate social responsibility impact. We are ready to discuss these tailored packages immediately after this address and also listen to your invaluable input towards these monumental celebrations,” said Mnkandla.
He also underscored that Bosso is more than just a club; they are a family, an institution, a community and a powerful symbol of Zimbabwean resilience.
“We invite you to join us on this milestone journey — to lend your name, your vision, and your resources — to secure the next 100 years of Bosso. Let us work together to make our centenary not just an unforgettable celebration, but a lasting blueprint for success in African football,” said Mkandla.
