Highlands host Easter Bowls tourney

Men and women will compete in all the bowls categories — Singles, Pairs, Triples and Fours.
The bowlers will start with the Fours and Triples tomorrow, then Pairs and Singles on Saturday.

On Sunday, it would be time for the Fours, Triples and Pairs.
Five-time Nationals champion, Roy Garden, will be playing for Highlands Sports Club while Kerry Craven also defends her title in the women’s Singles section.

Craven, who is one of the organisers of the annual competition said everything is now in place for the annual tournament.
“We are happy to host the tournament and all is in place now, the greens are looking good and everything is under control.

“I will be representing Highlands Sports Club, my Club used to be at Alexandra Sports Club but now I have changed to Highlands which makes life easier for me as my husband plays for Highlands.

“Last year I won three gold medals throughout the season and I want to win more in 2013,” said Craven.
Craven believes that the Nationals tournament will help prepare players for the World Bowls Champion of Champions Singles to be held at Burnside Bowling Club in Christchurch, New Zealand, in November.

Alexandra Sports Club, Avondale, Borrowdale, City Bowling Club and the hosts are some of the clubs that will feature at the local Easter tournament.
