SOUTH Africa’s Absa Premiership side concluded their one and half week assessment on Chicken Inn defender Last Sithole amid optimism in the Gamecocks camp that they towering defender might have made the grade.
The towering defender, who arrived at Chicken Inn mid last year from Bulawayo Chiefs, sneaked out of the country early last week to go for the trials.
“He concluded his trials today. As Chicken Inn, we have been following him and we are very much optimistic that he might have made the grade,” said Chicken Inn secretary general Tavengwa Hara.
Last season, Sithole shined in the Gamecocks central defence partnering veteran defender Moses Jackson with so much aplomb, a development that saw seasoned Guide Goddard play second fiddle.
Chicken Inn have recently been exporting players to the neighbouring country and if Sithole does make the grade he will join a list that includes Teenage Hadebe (Kaizer Chiefs), Kudakwashe Mahachi (Orlando Pirates), Danny “Deco” Phiri and Devine Lunga (Golden Arrows).
Highlands Park are home to former Zimbabwe internationals Tapuwa Kapini and Tendai Ndoro who also previously turned out for the Joey Antipas’ mentored side.
Meanwhile, young Gamecocks midfielder Brett Amidu has recovered from the soft tissue injuries that he picked when the club was on tour in Malawi early this month.
