BEING raised by Christian parents passionate about music has influenced ZAOGA Music Ministry Director for Bulawayo and Plumtree, Mai Margaret Mwamuka nee Kaliyat to drop a top notch debut album titled Highly Lifted Up.
Consisting of 10 scintillating hits that perhaps will dominate gospel charts, Mai Mwamuka said she was in the music industry to bring change not money.
“I am not in music to make money but to minister and have the worship experience accessible to all across the economic divide. I believe God is able to fund his work through those whom he has blessed more financially and those with equipment who understand what the presence of God can accomplish for an individual, a community, a city and a nation. They then invest in this vision for eternal rewards through lives saved and impacted as well as harvest of seed sown here on earth,” she said.
“However, money is critical for every industry but the greater challenge for music industry in Zimbabwe is we have not yet fully matured in our love and commitment to music to be pursuing musical events, but I believe as the economy is improving, our people will have more disposable income to support artistes through properly buying music and not cheap pirates,” she said.
Mai Mwamuka said she has worked in countless arts projects that involved renowned gospel artistes, and is still undone.
“In my entrusted position as ZAOGA Music Ministry Director for Bulawayo & Plumtree I have organised and overseen a number of musical programmes, concerts, festivals, bashes over the years that have hosted different music groups and personalities such as Vocal Ex, Minister Takesure Zamar, Pastor Haisa, Lorraine Stot Maplanka, Minister Tino, Minister Mum Bongie Moyo, worship teams from within ZAOGA congregations, PAOZ, AFM to mention a few. This is only the beginning. I believe God still has more to bring to the body of Christ and I desire and long to be part of it,” she said.
The album received $2 300 on the day of the official launch.
