Hindrances to a blessed life/The blessing of God (Part 2)

3. Failure to Cover Your Father’s Nakedness.
Genesis 9:21-24

Then he drank of the wine and was drunk, and became uncovered in his tent. And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brothers outside.

But Shem and Japheth took a garment, laid it on both their shoulders, and went backward and covered the nakedness of their father.

Their faces were turned away, and they did not see their father’s nakedness. So Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done to him.(NKJV

In the scripture above, Ham saw the nakedness of his father and called his brothers to see. This was an error in the spiritual realm because he mocked his father instead of covering him.

Exposing the nakedness of your spiritual father is detrimental to your life because it attracts curses. A true son covers the nakedness of his father. Ham’s son Canaan was therefore cursed by his father.

The curse of mocking your father’s nakedness usually falls on your child and not on you. God knows that it is a more painful punishment when your child is cursed than if you are cursed.

It is always very painful to see your children affected by curses that you attracted.
Genesis 9:25

And he said, Cursed be Canaan, a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren. NKJV

When you notice that your spiritual father has erred in a certain area, be quick to cover it and do not focus on his error. Remember that as much as he is a man of God, he is also a human being.

Do not laugh or criticize him, but rather defend him. Defending your spiritual father brings blessings in your life; it opens doors for you to prosper because you will be working together with the angels of God.

It pleases God when you defend and cover His anointed ones. Also pray for your spiritual father and his family to be protected at all times.

God Bless.
