AMBITIOUS and talented hip-hop artiste, P Millar has defied all odds to release a 21-track debut album that has been well received by the followers of the genre.P Millar (21) whose real name is Prosper Mutowe, said his album, No Pain No Gain which has songs in both English and Shona is a product of hard work, dedication and perseverance.
The album has been getting favourable airplay on the country’s cosmopolitan radio stations, a feat that P Millar, said was a testimony that he would conquer the genre soon.
Some of the songs that have been well received by fans include Finally Made It, Chishuwo, One Mic, Destiny, Ready, Take Over, Chakakala and the title track, No Pain No Gain.
The album was recorded at three different studios and also features five supporting artistes and three producers, giving it an edge over competitors who usually throw half baked products on the market.
P Millar, a music sound engineer by training, said he was humbled by the reception and airplay his debut album has been receiving. He also dispelled the notion that hip-hop will never rise from its current suppressed levels.
“My debut album was well received by both the fans and radio stations. I am overwhelmed by the airplay it is getting and requests from the fans. From what I know, not all new entrance in the music industry especially hip-hop will make such a huge impact, but I have managed it.
“The album No Pain No Gain tackles various issues that people face in their day to day living. The title is self explanatory, nothing is for free in this capitalistic world, so people must sweat for survival.
The album is both in Shona and as English as I want to capture and satisfy everyone,” he said.
