SENIOR citizens at Entembeni Old People’s Home yesterday enjoyed a Christmas luncheon sponsored by Holiday Inn Bulawayo through the Mayor’s Christmas Cheer Fund.
Holiday Inn Bulawayo hosts a luncheon for the elderly every year at the hotel but this year due to Covid-19 restrictions it was at Entembeni Old People’s Home.
The hotel’s deputy general manager, Ms Grace Guchu said any good business knows that it cannot continue to exist without giving back to the community.
She said they are driven by the mandate to take care of local communities.
“We are giving back to the community by taking care of orphans, vulnerable children and the elderly.
Today we are giving a donation to Entembeni Old People’s Home to fulfil our mandate of caring for the vlunerable in our communities,” said Ms Guchu.
She said Holiday Inn wants to leave a footprint that will forever be remembered.
“Our desire as a business is to leave a legacy of not only being an excellent hotel providing great service but also to be renowned as an organisation that cares and is irreplaceable in the community.
Apart from the donation, we have brought Holiday Inn Bulawayo experience to Entembeni for them to enjoy the lunch through the Mayor’s Cheer Fund,” said Ms Guchu.
Apart from the luncheon, Holiday Inn donated groceries including 100kg mealie meal, 20kg rice, 20l cooking oil, 10kg sugar beans and 10kg salt.
Speaking during the luncheon, Bulawayo mayor Councillor Solomon Mguni commended the hotel for its yearly generosity that has seen it building a relationship with the cheer fund despite the economic challenges faced by corporates.
