GWANDA musician DaKhoisan has returned to the music scene with a powerful new single, Holy Ghost, a song carrying a message of hope, faith and perseverance for people facing life’s everyday struggles.
Produced by fellow Gwanda creative DJ Drumz, the track marks a new chapter for the artiste, who says the song was inspired by the challenges many people encounter at home, at work and in their communities.
At a time when much of today’s music is centred on entertainment and nightlife, Holy Ghost takes a different path. The song speaks to people who are battling setbacks, disappointments and self-doubt, encouraging them to keep going despite the obstacles in their way.
DaKhoisan said the song was born out of both personal experiences and what he sees happening around him every day.
“Holy Ghost is a song about life and the hardships we face along the way, the ups and downs, struggles, disappointments, and obstacles that can sometimes make us question ourselves. The message was drawn from both personal experience and what I observe in the community,” he said.
According to the artiste, some of the biggest battles people face do not always come from difficult circumstances alone, but also from those who discourage them or fail to support their ambitions.
“Sometimes the greatest difficulty does not come from circumstances alone but from people around us, including those who may be uncomfortable with another person’s progress or who do not believe in the vision that one is pursuing, and that is why the song deliberately encourages listeners not to allow negativity to derail their purpose.
“But the message of the song is simple: don’t allow anyone or anything to stop you from doing what you believe in. Thus, it encourages one to keep pushing, keep believing, and keep moving forward.”
At its heart, Holy Ghost is built around three themes that DaKhoisan believes are essential, particularly for young people trying to build better futures for themselves: hope, power and faith.
“I hope that no matter how difficult the situation may be, things will eventually get better. Power to overcome every obstacle and rise above whatever life throws at you. And faith that your journey has a purpose, even when you cannot see the bigger picture yet,” said DaKhoisan.
The musician said the song is meant to remind listeners that tough times are temporary and that persistence often leads to better opportunities.
“The song is ultimately a reminder that the struggle is not the end of the story. Keep going, because better days are coming,” added DaKhoisan.
The release also marks his return to active music production after spending several months away from the studio focusing on personal growth and professional development.
During that period, he completed the So Creative E-Learning Course run by the British Council of Zimbabwe, an experience he says has transformed the way he approaches both music and business.
“The course was incredibly helpful and has had a huge impact on how I view my creative career,” he said.
The programme, he added, equipped him with skills in professionalism, sustainability, planning and brand building, areas he believes will help him grow his career more strategically.
“I am now beginning to apply the knowledge gained in areas such as professionalism, sustainability, planning, and building a stronger creative brand, which he believes will help him to be more consistent and strategic moving forward. I want to give my fans, partners and promoters the very best of what I can offer. People can expect more professionalism, consistency and quality from me going forward.”
DaKhoisan said fans can expect more music in the coming months, including projects that were recorded earlier but never released. He is also planning more collaborations, stronger live performances and bigger productions aimed at showcasing talent from Matabeleland South on larger stages.
The artiste also revealed that he is now working independently following the end of his association with X Studios, a move he believes will give him greater control over his career and creative vision.
“My main focus is sustainability, consistency, growth, and creating meaningful partnerships. I am ready to take this as far as I possibly can, and I believe the best is still ahead,” said DaKhoisan.
With Holy Ghost, DaKhoisan is not simply releasing a new song. He is delivering a message of encouragement to people facing their own struggles, reminding them that success often belongs to those who keep believing, keep working and refuse to give up.
