Firebrand hip-hop musician Holy Ten, real name Mukudzei Chitsama, has joined hands with diversified business organisation Bullion Group to fight drug and substance abuse.
The musician, who was a star attraction at the annual Bullion Group Zaka Schools Sports tournament held at St Anthony’s High School, commended the Bullion Group for the grassroots talent development and anti-drug abuse initiative and committed to participating in the campaign.
“Drug and substance abuse has become a menace to society and I am happy to partner responsible organisations like Bullion Group in fighting this scourge,” he said.
“We should go all out with public education, awareness as well as rehabilitation promotion programmes to win this fight.
“The level of investment that has gone into this sports tournament speaks to consciousness and familiarity with community challenges seeing that beyond economic empowerment, sports is another good tool to empower youths as we fight drug and substance abuse.”
Holy Ten also confirmed that he has postponed his album release at the last minute due to some logistics.
The album entitled, ‘Proud Father’, was set for release on Monday but has been moved to October 21. The “Mujaya” as Holy Ten is widely known in music circles has since been made the Bullion Group brand ambassador responsible for amplifying anti-drug and substance abuse messages and the company’s CEO Persistence Gwanyanya professed confidence in the musician’s ability to push the correct narrative.
“Holy Ten is the perfect candidate to help us push the right message in the fight against drug abuse.”
“The President and the Government have continuously spoken about the need for unity in the fight against drug and substance abuse and we are duty-bound to play our part in complementing those efforts,” said Gwanyanya.
“We want to take this campaign further as seen by the highly successful engagement Holy Ten had with the youths during his performance at the Zaka Schools Sports Tournament. He is the perfect leader of the youth and we hope to continue on this path together.”
The Holy Ten and Bullion Group partnership was also commended by Masvingo Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Ezra Chadzamira, who was represented by Secretary for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Dr Admore Pazvakavambwa.
“We acknowledge the sterling efforts of caring organisations like Bullion Group who continue to spare a thought for marginalised communities through their corporate social investment programmes. Nation building is every-one’s duty and it is encouraging when corporate partners come on board to complement government efforts.”
“Beyond providing over US$10 000 towards prize money and other generous donations of soccer uniforms and boots, sanitary pads as well as internet to the school, Bullion Group is also scaling the anti-drug abuse campaign which is being spearheaded by the Government,” he said.
Pazvakavambwa also highlighted that Bullion Group’s initiative dovetails with the province’s comprehensive community development and as well as risk reduction strategies, which include educational awareness programmes, counselling services, and partnerships with community organisations.
“Your thoughtfulness as demonstrated through your continued support to the district and province is in sync with the President and indeed the province’s leaving no place and no one behind. We are encouraged by your commitment to the development cause and we pray you continue on this path.”
“Beyond talent development, let us continue roping in other initiatives like educational awareness programmes, counselling services, and partnerships with community organisations,” he said.
