Among those announced so far are rapper Ma9nine, Fab G Mshanakagogo, DJ Prince Eskhosini, and award-winning rhumba group Insimbi ZeZhwane, signalling a strong Bulawayo presence on the main stage.

DJ Prince Eskhosini, who delivered a crowd-pleasing set during the event’s April edition, returns with renewed energy.
“This is my second time performing at the Shutdown. I’m excited to be part of this event again and to share the stage with some of the greatest talent on the line-up. People should expect a fire set,” he said.

Insimbi ZeZhwane, still riding high following the successful launch of their album in Johannesburg, South Africa, and Bulawayo, are anticipated to draw a massive crowd as they showcase their latest hits.

Man of the moment, Fab G, who is behind the Imali Yesgweja hit, is expected to set the stage alight, as the song continues to take the region by storm and has already been declared the Song of the Year by many fans.

More performers are expected to be announced in the coming days as anticipation builds ahead of December 27.

This year’s December edition comes with a distinct cultural shift, running under the theme “Ubuntu: I Am Because We Are”. In line with the cultural grounding, Nkayi’s Chief Mbusi Dakamela has been roped in to play a significant role. Videos of the chief sharing traditional knowledge and educating young people on identity and heritage have already started circulating online.

Organisers say the decision to centre the event around culture reflects how art, music, and creativity bridge generations and preserve identity.
