KIM Hongkee of Harry Allen Golf Club carded a total gross score of 82 to win the Mbada Golf Society bi-monthly golf tournament with a net score of 70 at Harry Allen greens on Sunday. Hongkee is a 12 handicapper and his swings saw him counting out Tawonenzvi Paguwa who grossed a score of 83 but being a 13 handicapped player, ended with a net score of 70.
On position three was Givens Hapadziwi who had a net total of 72. Hapadziwi’s handicap is 23.
Paguwa also won the nearest to the pin on hole four in an afternoon that saw three other players getting the same prize on different holes.
Coming close to hole seven was Jabus Karuru while Charles Ndlovu and Tonderai Gavu were closest to the pins on holes 12 and 17 respectively.
Former Zimbabwe Saints player and coach Ebson Muguyo, who won the previous society tournament, had the longest drive for the man with Masiyephambili Junior School teacher Lorraine Huwa winning in the ladies section. It was her second triumph in 24 hours after she came tops on Friday during her school’s fundraising golf tournament.
Paguwa, Chenge Chivonivoni and Wilfred Chinembiri got the two clubs after hitting two strokes on par three hole.
“We had a total of 32 players taking to the greens. Our next tournament will be held on 28 July at Bulawayo Golf Club,” said the society’s captain Kwangwari Kwangwari.
Meanwhile, Margaret Vera leads the Mbada Golf Society Order of Merit with an accumulative order of merit points of 22 followed by Kwangwari who has 18.5 points while Muguyo has 18 points to take position three. Shephered Huni and Englington Mwamlowe are tied on 14.5 points each to complete the top five.
