ZANU PF has extended warm wishes to all Zimbabweans as the country commemorates Heroes Day and Defence Forces Day.

In a statement, Secretary General Cde Dr Obert Mpofu underscored the significance of these national holidays in honoring those who fought for Zimbabwe’s freedom.

As the country marks these important days, Cde Mpofu called for remembrance of the heroes who sacrificed their lives for the country’s freedom.

He stressed that true heroes are shaped by the struggles of their time, urging today’s youth to take up the mantle of economic empowerment and innovation.

“On behalf of the colossal Revolutionary Party, its Central Committee, Politburo, Council of Elders, staff, and the millions of loyal supporters across the nation, the ZANU PF Secretary General, Cde Dr. Obert Moses Mpofu, extends heartfelt wishes to all the people of Zimbabwe as we commemorate this year’s Heroes Day and Defence Forces Day.

“As we celebrate this year’s Heroes Day and Defence Forces Day, let us remember that every generation must contribute to the progress of its nation. The previous generation faced the monumental task of liberating Zimbabwe from colonial rule.

“With little more than courage and youthful determination, we fought and defeated a far stronger enemy. The cost was high, but our sacrifice gave birth to a free and independent Zimbabwe.

“As we mark this year’s Heroes Day and Defence Forces Day, we remember those who gave their lives for our freedom. Heroes are not born; they are shaped by the struggles of their time,” said Cde Mpofu.

“The youth of yesterday took up arms, the youth of today must take up the fight for economic empowerment, innovation, and national development.

“Our independence has faced many trials from the hardships of ESAP to the burden of illegal sanctions. The modern battles we face demand new heroes who will rise to defend our sovereignty and drive our nation forward.

“Today’s youth must be both champions of progress and guardians of our revolution, protecting what was won through great sacrifice.

“This Heroes Day and Defence Forces Day, let us commit to preserving our hard-earned freedom and building a Zimbabwe that future generations will be proud to inherit.

“The call to serve is as urgent now as it was during the liberation struggle. May we answer it with the same courage and resolve that secured our independence,” said Cde Mpofu
