Hornets seek to maintain dominance in clash with JBC

HARARE City Hornets assistant coach Mike Nhira is brimming with confidence as he prepares his side to unleash an onslaught on JBC at Richwood today in their quest to maintain their dominance in the Harare Basketball Assoction Men’s A League.

The City Hornets are in a good position to claim the HBA league title after beating the seasoned campaigners Raiders who were rallying behind their back. They are leading the race after nine rounds of fixtures.

Nhira told The Herald that the team is working hard to get positive results.

“We started our preparation for the weekend game on Tuesday at City Sports.

“They are just like any other team. We always look at our opponents’ strength and weaknesses then we build from there.

“Tatenda played well in Mufakose against UZ Stars and we will include him in the first line up to play this weekend.”

Nhira said three of his good players have so far missed four games due to injuries and hopes the setback will not affect the team’s performance today.

“Simbarashe Mungomezi, Billy Melusi and Shoniwa Ushe are still out injured. However, there are players ready to take up the places and do well for the team. We have played four games minus these players and won so I think it won’t be so hard but as a coach you always love to have everyone fit so that you select the best for the game”, he said.
