Hospitality association to re-brand

October 27 and 28.
HAZ president Mr Tich Hwingwiri said the re-branding effort is in line with the congress theme ‘Generating Transformational Momentum’, aimed at boosting Zimbabwe’s tourism fortunes.

“The congress will provide a perfect opportunity to put our house in order in view of the country’s hosting the United Nations World Tourism Organisation General Assembly conference,” he said.
Zimbabwe recently won the bid to co-host the 2013 UNWTO General Assembly with Zambia, a development that is largely viewed as an endorsement of the country as a tourism destination of choice in the region.
Mr Hwingwiri said HAZ and the Catering Industry Association of Zimbabwe will hold their respective annual general meetings on October 27, with the unveiling of the new HAZ logo being done later on the same day.

On the 28th there will be a Hospitality Fair, where ‘strategic stakeholders’ will be exhibiting their products and services.
Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister Walter Mzembi is expected to officially open the congress on the 28th.

To date 18 exhibitors have since confirmed their participation, although the HAZ president said they were still taking applications.
Local tourism industry and strategic allied players that have confirmed include the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority, the Zimbabwe Council of Tourism, the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority, Environmental Management

Authority, and Customs and Immigration among others.
The Federal Hospitality Association of South Africa are also expected to attend the event to share their experiences with their Zimbabwean counterparts.
In addition a number of awards will be given to key contributors to the growth of the local tourism and hospitality industry.
