DESIGNERS of the Hovhorosi Style are aiming at conquering the Southern African region this year with their latest outfits . Herbert Huruba and James Pande, the two creative designers of the Hovhorosi Style, said they were hopeful that they will satisfy the demand for their products this year and go beyond national borders.
“There was a huge demand for the Hovhorosi Style outfits last year but then we were still trying to supply the local market. Our plans for this year is that we should be able to take it beyond Zimbabwean borders. There has been great interest from Southern Africa and this is where we are going to start from,” Huruba said.
The Hovhorosi Style with the signature of President Robert Mugabe comes in different shapes and colours including white, green, red, black and yellow. The designer outfits are a brainchild of Zimbabwe Entrepreneurship Youth Action under a project called “Youth Building Zimbabwe Hovhorosi Style”.
Asked about the latest designer Hosvhorosi Style or Hovhan’a, Pande said they had moved from the overalls to more comfortable casual outfits.
“As designers we don’t want to give people the same thing all the time. So we have come up with new styles and casual garments that range from trousers, caps to jackets. If you’re looking for something sporty you get it and if you are into casual there is something for you.
We started with overalls now we are making dangarees,” he said.
Pande said they wanted the youths to be guided by culture and be able to produce music that had a meaning as Zimbabweans and as a God-fearing nation.
“It is the latest style in the country and we salute President Mugabe for his initiative to support and empower the youths of Zimbabwe regardless of their political affiliation,” said Pande.
Pande, who is also the Zimbabwe Entrepreneurship Youth Action president, said the Hovhorosi Style was a show of the importance of President Mugabe’s signature which has a strong meaning to the youths.
Some of the celebrities who have strutted in Hovhorosi Style include television presenters Prominence Makaza, Thabani Gambiza, Elsie Mojapelo and Kanyemba Bonzo as well as footballer Edward Sadomba among others.
