Hovhorosi Style to promote peace

the youths.
The launch started off with a peace march led by Pande and Huruba as well as Zim Gossip Models in the city centre where they turned heads.

The must-have white hovhorosis with the word “peace”  in different colours including black and green are emblazoned with President Mugabe’s signature and have no doubt become a hit with fashionistas.

Some of the celebrities who have strutted in Hovhorosi Style include television presenters Prominence Makaza, Thabani Gambiza, Elsie Mojapelo and Kanyemba Bonzo among others.

Others who have flaunted the white overalls are Mercy “Catwalk” Mushaninga and models from Miss Curvy and Zim Gossip Models. Musicians Alick Macheso and Roki have been spotted donning the Hovhorosi Style.

The Hovhorosi Style is the brainchild of Zimbabwe Entrepreneurship Youth Action under a project called “Youth Building Zimbabwe Hovhorosi Style”.
According to Huruba and Pande, the overalls, besides advocating for peace, also serve to honour President Mugabe, as one of Africa’s  icons in the fight against colonialism.

“We want to pay tribute to a living legend, President Mugabe, for his dedication towards empowering the Zimbabwean youths and generations to come.
“Another important aspect of the project was to conscientise the youths not just in Zimbabwe but across the world about the role of our President in championing African pride.

“We want to show that we take pride in our national flag colours and this is why the overalls have been made in different colours of our flag,” Pande, who is the ZEYA president, said.

He said their Facebook page was inundated with orders from people from as far as Australia, South Africa and the United States.
His co-designer Huruba, who is also the senior board member of the Zimbabwe Youth Council, urged youths to observe peace before, during and after the elections.

“The white hovhorosis should be a sign that as youths we want to enjoy our peace and be responsible citizens. So the white colour throughout the world stands for peace. Just like our previous Hovhorosi Style gear we have made different sizes and shapes,” Huruba said.

He said the response so far was overwhelming and that they would continue designing brilliant styles during the course of the year.
