NEWBOYS How Mine face some anxious moments ahead of tomorrow’s Caf deadline as they look for a striker to beef-up their squad for the Confederation Cup. The Bulawayo side will make their debut in the inter-club competition this year and they had registered 12 new players in their 29-member squad.
But they encountered a setback after losing one of their four strikers on the list Courage Denias who reverted back to Triangle after getting an improved deal by his club in the Lowveld.
The club had also registered Kuda Musharu among the strikers but they are facing challenges getting his clearance from his club Monomotapa where he has a three-year deal that is still running.
There are genuine fears that they could lose Musharu after another Premiership club, Chicken Inn, had made a formal enquiry for his services this season.
How Mine began their preparations last week and club secretary James Zibowa yesterday said they have given the coach the greenlight to look for reinforcements. The side also opened the door to new players who were on trials last week.
“I think there could be changes to the squad but the coach it’s all up to the coach. We had agreed with players like Denias but he had second thoughts and he returned to Triangle.
“There are two or three players that we have registered who have clearance issues. We are sorting things out with their previous clubs and hopefully everything will be settled at the end of the day,” said Zibowa.
Negotiations with Monomotapa for the release of Musharu are still in the early stages.
