HOW MINE FC chairman Mlondolozi Nkomo yesterday said they are not sweating over the absence of their lethal striker Kudakwashe Musharu who is on trial at AmaZulu FC in South Africa.Musharu left Bulawayo soon after How Mine lost 0-1 in their first Castle Lager Premiership match to Dynamos at Barbourfields Stadium last Sunday.
He was expected back in the country yesterday ahead of today’s clash with Bantu Rovers at Luveve Stadium but he is unlikely to feature. Nkomo said they agreed with AmaZulu to assess him over a period of one week.
“We are going to miss him obviously, but I hope whoever is going to fill his void will do the job. We are not sweating over him because we are a club with a big squad and players who can do the job in his absence,” said Nkomo.
Musharu along with young goalkeeper Bernard Donavan, Edmore Muzanenhamo and Marvel Samaneka are among the long list that Philani “Beefy” Ncube recruited at the beginning of the year in preparation for their just-ended Caf Confederation Cup adventure.
He attracted the attention of Durban outfit AmaZulu after netting six goals in the Caf Confederation Cup matches.
Nkomo said they are waiting for AmaZulu’s response.
“We will see what happens, but as a club we don’t stand in players’ way if chances arise to enhance their careers elsewhere. For now there is no deal yet and he is still our player, we expect him back,” said Nkomo.
If Musharu gets a deal with the Durban side, he will become the second How Mine player to be signed by a South African club this year after Simba Sithole joined Ajax Cape Town in February.
AmaZulu are home to former Highlanders and national team goalkeeper Tapuwa Kapini and defender Carlington Nyadombo.
They have previously been home to Ephraim Mwale, Mkhokheli Dube and Ramson Zhuwawo as well.
