How the Entertainment Industry Has to Change to Accommodate the Gen Z

Generation Z, popularly known as Gen Z, are people who were born around iPhones, iPads, and computers, and their birthdays are between 1997 and 2010. They’ve had these gadgets at their fingertips ever since, giving them access to:

  • Connected devices.
  • 24/7 internet.
  • Social media.

It’s a generation that loves to be entertained by technology, and the entertainment industry must excite them with what they love to remain relevant in their world. When it comes to gaming, generation Z gamers are more into online gaming than physical gaming.

Gamers comfortably play 24/7 online blackjack for real money in their homes and on different digital devices. The Gen Zs are also into social entertainment and video streaming. So, if you are an entertainment brand that’s looking to engage them, consider the following.

Tap into Gen Z’s Creativity

Gen Z have their smartphones, social media, and video streaming intertwined in their daily lives, and they use them to showcase their creativity. They’ve embraced modern technology and used it to create captivating videos on TikTok or come up with digital art.

Additionally, Gen Zs are always looking to be trendsetters and drivers of culture and content. So, how can an entertainment brand appeal to them? Offer Gen Z the space they need to express themselves freely with Reels and personal stories.

Allow them to use their digital devices openly to share their thoughts so they feel more connected to you, which increases brand loyalty.

Create Niche Online Communities

Compared to earlier generations, Gen Zs are digital natives who see online communities as a place to foster genuine connections and build strong relationships. They are more likely to connect with people who have the same interests online than in-person.

Gen Z’s enjoy niche communities where they can share their experiences  in fields like:

  • Music.
  • Video games.
  • Movies.
  • Sports.

The entertainment industries can create these spaces online, including on social media like Facebook or Twitter, and build a customer base.

The spaces can also help to personalize interactions with Gen Z and extend your brand reach. Understanding their needs, wants, and what matters to them enables you to create content that resonates with your target audience. It’s a place where you can test and learn their content preferences.

Increase Engagement With Social Justice

Gen Zs grew up with social media, so they know how to use it as a tool to bring change to areas that concern them. Unlike earlier generations, they are more open-minded and liberal in their advocacy styles. They will speak out about what they believe in, such as climate, gender inequality, or human rights.

The entertainment industry can also use the same social justice to engage Generation Z. However, you don’t have to use it only on specific occasions like Mental Health Day or Mother’s Day. You can start social justice about a relevant topic in your industry and use it to engage your audience daily.

An audience that’s highly engaged is likely to interact more with your brand and share content with friends and relatives, which extends your reach. Offering entertainment content, including social justice, that matches the tastes and preferences of Gen Z is the best way to accommodate them and make them loyal.
